The Hindu population of Bangladesh has decreased by 0.59% in a decade, Officials of the Ministry of Statistics stated at a press conference on 27 July during the release of the results of the Census 2022.

In the new census, the Muslim population is 91.04%, Hindu population is 7.95%. The Muslim population has increased by 0.39% in a decade. At the same time, the population of other religions has decreased. Itwas presented at the publication ceremony of the first digital census and household census 2022 implemented through BBS under the Department of Statistics and Information Marketing at BICC.

Planning Minister M.A. Mannan was the chief guest. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, State Minister of Public Administration Farhad Hossain, State Minister of Planning Dr Shamsul Alam were present. As per the report, the total population is 16,51,58,616 comprising 8,17,00,000, men and 8,33,00,000 women and 12,629 third gender people. As per 2022 census, 91.04% are Muslim, 7.95% Hindu, 0.62% Buddhist, 0.30% Christian and 0.12% other. In 2011, Muslim’s rate was 90.39% and Hindu’s rate was 8.54 %.
