‘Bad Newz’, which premiered yesterday, has had a strong opening due to significant pre-release excitement, impressive songs, and an engaging trailer. Initial estimates suggest that the romantic drama has garnered around Rs 8.60 crore, making it Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opener, surpassing ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (Rs 8.20 crore) and ‘Raazi’ (Rs 7.53 crore).

While ‘Sanju’ did bring in Rs 34.75 crore on its first day, it primarily starred Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role.

Returning to ‘Bad Newz’, the film is anticipated to see substantial growth over the next two days and could potentially exceed the Rs 30 crore mark over its opening weekend. The movie has been receiving positive feedback from urban audiences, particularly among the youth. However, it is crucial for ‘Bad Newz; to maintain strong performance during the weekdays, as the highly anticipated Hollywood film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is set to release next week and is expected to perform exceptionally well at the global box office.

Directed by Anand Tiwari, known for his work on ‘Love Per Square Foot’, ‘Bandish Bandits’, ‘Maja Ma’, and ‘Bang Baaja Baarat’, ‘Bad Newz’ also stars Triptii Dimri, Ammy Virk, Sheeba Chadha, and others in significant roles.

Regarding reviews, Firstpost awarded the film 2.5 stars, stating, “Vicky Kaushal steals the show as Akhil Chaddha. The way he portrayed this character it looked like a tailor-made role for him. Apart from amazing screen presence, the Punjabi munda shines in comic and emotional sequences. Ammy Virk and Triptii Dimri put their best foot forward in their respective characters. Sheeba Chadha and Neha Dhupia thus make a mark in their limited screentime.”
