Four people were injured, two of them critically, in an axe attack during a fight on a suburban train outside Paris on Monday morning, according to a police source. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. (0700 GMT) on the RER E line train at the Ozoir-la-Ferrière station, southeast of Paris.

One victim sustained severe injuries, including a severed hand, while another suffered a skull fracture. Two others sustained less serious injuries. The altercation involved several individuals, some of whom were minors, the police source reported.

As the train was stationary at the station during the incident, rail operator SNCF confirmed that RER E line service was unaffected.
