Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup after sustaining a right knee injury, the BCCI announced today.

It will be a huge blow to India’s title defence at the Asia Cup as Jadeja is a crucial cog in the team and played a huge role in India’s win over arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match where he was promoted up the batting order. He had scored 35 and stitched a match-winning 52 runs partnership off 29 balls with Hardik Pandya for the fifth wicket.

This is not the first time that Jadeja is troubled by an injury as a similar injury to their right leg forced him to sit out of the ODI’s against West Indies in July in the Caribbean Islands.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup. Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. His replacement, Axar Patel was earlier named as one of the standbys in the squad and will join the team in Dubai soon,” Jay Shah, BCCI secretary said in a release.
