Toyota Motor has once again ceased bookings for the top-end variants of its popular Innova HyCross MPV, citing an extended waiting period that surpasses a year. The decision affects models such as the ZX and ZX(O), equipped with a robust hybrid powertrain, with no clear indication from Toyota on when bookings will resume. This temporary halt, initiated just three months after reopening bookings, mirrors a similar move last year due to overwhelming demand.
Priced at 30.30 lakh and 30.98 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively, the ZX and ZX(O) variants feature a 2.0-litre petrol engine combined with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology, also used in the Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV. Meanwhile, the non-hybrid versions start at a more affordable 19.77 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota’s decision comes amidst Uttar Pradesh’s recent announcement of a complete waiver on registration tax for hybrid vehicles, aimed at boosting adoption. This move significantly reduced the price of the Innova HyCross variants, enhancing their appeal in the market.
The top-end Innova HyCross models boast advanced features such as ADAS technology, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Ottoman seats with leather upholstery, powered tailgate, all-LED lighting, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, pollution filter, two-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and six airbags. Despite the halt in bookings, the Innova HyCross continues to maintain the longest waiting period among all Toyota vehicles in India, reflecting its enduring popularity and demand.
