Pakistan Elections: Imran Khan casts vote through postal ballot

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and other incarcerated political leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, exercised their voting rights through postal ballots from Adiala Jail. Notably, fewer than 100 prisoners voted out of the jail’s 7,000 inmates. The low turnout was attributed to many prisoners lacking valid computerized national identity cards (CNICs).

Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, was unable to vote as she was convicted and arrested after the postal voting process. Imran Khan, serving time on multiple charges, urged voters to dismantle a “rotten system” through their votes. The PTI party denounced mobile service suspensions on election day, calling for solidarity against the “illegitimate” regime. Despite challenges, citizens turned out in significant numbers to cast their votes.
