On Saturday, however, Rahul discovered that he was receiving a lot of attention on social media due to claims that he had visited a nightclub with an adult theme in the UK. Wife Athiya Shetty, however, slammed those who were spreading rumours in a message posted on social media.
“Normally, I choose to remain silent and unresponsive, but there are occasions when you need to speak up for yourself. We went out to a typical establishment, as one goes, with Rahul, myself, and our friends. We went out to a regular place. Stop removing context from statements, and verify your facts before reporting. Peace and love,” Athiya wrote in a story on Instagram.
A number of supporters trolling the batsman from Karnataka on Twitter alleged that Rahul went to a strip club.
KL Rahul, who recently underwent thigh surgery due to an injury he got during a league game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, is expected to remain out of cricketing activities for several months.
Rahul’s injury prevented him from playing in the remainder of the IPL season as well as the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against Australia.
Rahul reportedly announced that he would not be part of the team in the WTC final.
