A ground-level survey of the Unnao parliamentary constituency was conducted by India News to analyse the performance of Sakshi Maharaj, the Member of Parliament from Unnao, and to gather voters’ feedback about him.
Sakshi Maharaj, an influential figure in Indian politics and a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured victory in the 2014 general election from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Prior to this, he had triumphed in the Indian general elections of 1991 from Mathura, and in 1996 and 1998 from Farrukhabad.
Sakshi Maharaj, characterised by his outspoken statements, has served as a Member of Parliament from Unnao in both the 2014 and 2019 elections. Before his tenure in Unnao, he held the position of MP from Mathura and Farrukhabad, showcasing a longstanding involvement in parliamentary affairs.
Unnao Lok Sabha constituency, ranking as the second-largest in Uttar Pradesh and fourth-largest in the nation by voter population, holds a significant political legacy. Traditionally aligned with the Congress until 1984, a pivotal shift occurred in the 1991 general elections, establishing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) enduring dominance.

The people of Unnao Lok Sabha constituency, in response to a recent survey, have expressed satisfaction with their Member of Parliament (MP), Sakshi Maharaj. While acknowledging his commendable work, they also suggest a desire for increased MP activity in the region. The survey reveals a significant preference for the NDA in the 2024 elections, with 63% of respondents giving Sakshi Maharaj a favourable rating of 7 out of 10 based on his performance. This indicates strong public support for the MP in Unnao.
The India News survey asked people in the Unnao Lok Sabha constituency about their Member of Parliament’s (MP) performance on the ground. They were asked to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is the best. The result shows that people have given their MP, Sakshi Maharaj, a score of 1, which is equivalent to 0.45 on the 10-point scale. This means that only 45% of the respondents are satisfied with the MP’s performance on the ground, and it’s considered below average.
When people were asked about their Member of Parliament (MP) on social media, they gave a score of 0.55 out of 1, which is like saying 55 out of 100 people have a positive view of the MP on social media. This score is slightly better than the ground-level performance evaluation.
In Parliament, Sakshi Maharaj’s performance, including factors like attendance, the number of questions asked, utilisation of MP funds, and specific contributions, earned him a score of 0.61 out of 1. On the ground, he received a rating of 0.45 out of 1, while on social media platforms, the score was 0.55 out of 1. Combining these scores with our ground-level survey, Sakshi Maharaj received a rating of 4.41 out of 7. Considering all aspects, if we were to assign a grade, Sakshi Maharaj would be deemed to have passed with flying colours, securing a score of 6.02 out of 10. This suggests that the people of the Unnao Lok Sabha constituency, with a consensus from all evaluations, view Sakshi Maharaj’s performance positively, giving him a first-division pass with a score of over 60%.
The data collected from conversations with thousands of people on the Unnao Lok Sabha seat by India News has been shared with its audience. Following discussions with individuals from various backgrounds, including women, men, farmers, labourers, students, and business professionals, a captivating figure has emerged. The results indicate that the Member of Parliament for the Unnao Lok Sabha seat, Sakshi Maharaj, has garnered positive sentiments, suggesting a satisfactory performance. In light of these findings, it can be concluded that Sakshi Maharaj receives a passing grade from the constituents of the Unnao Lok Sabha constituency.
