Chandauli Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh already exists. But in 1997, Chandauli was separated from Varanasi and became a new district. Chandauli is also called the rice bowl because good quality rice is produced in abundance here. Due to its proximity to Varanasi, Chandauli seat is considered as a VIP seat. Also there is Pandit Deen Dayal Junction which was known as Mughalsarai.

Whether there are elections or not, the political temperature here remains hot throughout the year.
Presently, senior BJP leader Mahendra Nath Pandey is the MP from here.

In 1980, Mahendra Nath Pandey contested the MLA election for the first time from Saidpur assembly seat of Ghazipur district on BJP ticket but he lost. In 1984 also, he lost the election from the same assembly constituency. In 1991, he was elected as MLA from Saidpur seat for the first time. After becoming MLA again in 1996, he was made Panchayati Raj and Planning Minister in Kalyan Singh’s government. After this, facing continuous defeat in the assembly elections from 2002 to 2007, he contested elections from Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat for the first time in 2009 on BJP ticket but could not win.

BJP changed his seat in 2014 and made Mahendra Nath Pandey a candidate from Chandauli Lok Sabha seat and he was able to win. In 2015, he became the Minister of State during expansion of Modi cabinet. Then in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he again became MP from Chandauli and was made Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Modi cabinet. After the cabinet expansion, he is currently serving the country as the Heavy Industries Minister. Most importantly, as an MP, he is also very popular in his area.
If we talk about Lok Sabha history of this seat, this seat had been won by Congress till 1984. But after 1984 general elections, Congress could never win from here. However in 1991, the electoral equation of this seat changed completely. BJP kept winning continuously from 1991 to 1998, but later sometimes Samajwadi Party and sometimes BSP occupied this seat.

Whereas BJP returned again in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. BJP’s hold on the seat still remains very strong.
Even though Chandauli Lok Sabha seat is in the neighborhood of Varanasi Lok Sabha but in terms of development, there is a huge difference between both the seats. The pace of development seems to be fast here for the last few years but the infrastructure is so weak that development is not seen equally in every area.
The scale of development also appears different in all the assemblies.

There are 5 assembly seats in Chandauli Lok Sabha seat. Mughalsarai, Sakaldiha, Syedarja, Ajgara and Shivpur fall under Chanduali Lok Sabha seat.
There are about 18 lakh voters in Chandauli Lok Sabha seat. The biggest problem of this Lok Sabha seat is that politics starts happening even before development takes place. Voters remain trapped in caste discrimination not only during elections but throughout the year. Political parties also know that here victory is certain by solving the caste equation rather than development. And because of this, development in this area could not happen at the pace that was required.

By the way, for many years, efforts have been made to change the picture in this area through central schemes.
In Chandauli, development issues pale in comparison to casteism and regionalism.
In the name of forward and backward, many parties have been making political bread in this parliamentary constituency. But focusing on the problems of this area does not make sense for the public representatives.

The respect for the MP who wins from here is not based on how much work he does but how much he fits into the caste card. That is why there are many problems here which need attention for years.
The general election of 2024 is very special for Chandauli Lok Sabha. Before the elections, the people here must be evaluating the work of their MP.
The India News Survey is putting the public’s opinion before the country.
