Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat holds significant importance in Haryana. Bhiwani is categorised among the districts with the lowest groundwater levels in the state. Historical information about Bhiwani city can be found in Ain-e-Akbari, revealing its status as a major commercial centre during the Mughal era.

In the medieval period, the southern region of Bhiwani, specifically the Mahendragarh district, was ruled by the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan, particularly Angpal. Currently, the Member of Parliament from this constituency is the prominent BJP leader Dharmabir Singh, who has held this position for two consecutive terms.
Dharmabir Singh, associated with the Janata Dal, Congress, and later BJP, secured victory against Shruti Choudhary in the 2014 elections. A four-time legislator and a minister in the Devi Lal government, Dharmabir has retained the BJP ticket and also emerged victorious in the 2019 general elections.

The Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat was established in 2008, unifying what were previously separate Lok Sabha seats for Bhiwani and Mahendragarh. It is believed that the party whose MP is elected here has a significant impact on forming the central government.
In 2009, Congress’s Shruti Choudhary’s victory led to the continuation of the Congress government at the centre. With the BJP securing victories in 2014 and 2019, the trend repeated with the BJP government at the centre.

The constituency comprises nine assembly constituencies, with five in Bhiwani district and four in Mahendragarh. The pace of development in this region is relatively slow, and development criteria vary across assembly constituencies.
The Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat has approximately 1.8 million voters. While development is a major concern, voters often get entangled in caste considerations during elections, with divisions among Jat and Yadav voters. In recent years, BJP’s influence has increased across all castes, and voting is perceived to be more influenced by party affiliations than individual candidates.

The constituency is entangled in caste equations rather than focusing on development. Limited development visible is mainly attributed to central schemes. Throughout the year, discussions about caste and community take precedence over development issues. Despite being Bansi Lal’s parliamentary constituency, the seat has been yearning for progress and development. Several unresolved issues still need attention.
The 2024 general elections are crucial for the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat, and the public is expected to evaluate their MP’s performance. India News is conducting a precise survey to assess the MP’s performance, presenting the public’s opinion before the country.

In the Parliament, based on factors such as attendance, the number of questions asked, utilization of MP funds, and special contributions, we evaluate the parliamentary performance. Dharmabir Singh’s presence in Parliament is around 94 per cent. He actively participates in parliamentary debates and questioning, contributing to approximately 74 per cent, consistently raising questions for the development of the region and the country. In terms of MP funds, approximately 96 per cent has been spent, and his special contribution to parliamentary proceedings stands at around 65 per cent. Based on these factors, MP Dharmabir Singh receives a score of 1, equivalent to an impressive 82 per cent.
While parliamentary performance is crucial during elections, the real measure of a representative’s effectiveness is the opinion of the people on the ground. India News conducted a survey to understand the views of the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency. The results reflect the public’s open-hearted responses after engaging with thousands of individuals.

The survey revealed that when asked about MP Dharmabir Singh’s performance, the majority of people believe that his work in the region is average. Initially, there was a focus on development in the area, but it is not as evident now. The public is dissatisfied with the MP’s work, and they want to see a more active role in the region.
In terms of voting preferences, the survey indicates a higher inclination towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Modi government’s work is viewed positively, and the people are content with the development in the region under their leadership. Despite concerns about the MP’s performance, the BJP is more favoured in the area.
Considering the ground-level responses to the survey questions, where MP Dharmabir Singh received a score of 3.29 in development, it is evident that only 47 per cent of people gave him a rating below average. The public seems dissatisfied with the MP’s performance, and the average score is below expectations.

The social media survey also reflected a similar sentiment, where 50 per cent of people favourably rated MP Dharmabir Singh. However, the average score was only 0.50, indicating that social media sentiments are also not strongly in favour of the MP.
In summary, when combining the parliamentary performance, ground-level survey, and social media survey, MP Dharmabir Singh receives an overall score of 4.91 out of 10, which is below average. The public in the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency has expressed dissatisfaction with the MP’s performance, and the upcoming elections will be crucial for their decision-making process.
