In a scathing attack on the Chhattisgarh government, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged a conspiracy against the Sanatan culture in the state. He blamed the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for the alleged influx of Rohingyas into the region.
The firebrand BJP leader also accused Baghel of being complicit in the conversion of tribal people to other religions. Furthermore, Sarma alleged that after the formation of the Congress coalition in India, an environment against Hindus was fostered.
Sarma took a dig at DMK leader Stalin and the Congress party for their comments against Sanatan culture. He also challenged Bhupesh Baghel to take Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya to prove their Hindu faith. According to Sarma, Rahul Gandhi will never visit the temple as it might portray him against the Mughal emperor Babur.
Recalling the shutdown of madrasas in Assam, the Assam CM mentioned that he questioned Congress workers if they would send their children to these institutions.
Arguing that Chhattisgarh needs a change, Sarma endorsed the BJP for the upcoming elections, stating that the party is poised to take power in the state. He reminded the public that Chhattisgarh was formed under the BJP government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. However, Sarma accused CM Baghel of turning the state’s image from development to corruption.
Sarma also criticised Baghel for alleged financial discrepancies in election campaigns in Assam and Himachal Pradesh, questioning why funds were not used for the development of the tribal population instead.
Towards the end, Sarma accused Baghel of misleading the public on rice procurement from the central government. Known for his hardline Hindutva stance, Sarma’s fierce rhetoric in Chhattisgarh signals the heated political atmosphere leading up to the forthcoming elections.
