Woman Throws Used Pads at Airline Staff Over Boarding Denial

Nairobi, Kenya: A shocking incident unfolded at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport when a Nigerian woman, Gloria Omisore, reacted aggressively after being denied boarding on a Kenya Airways flight. The disturbance escalated when she threw used sanitary pads at airline staff.

Visa Issues Lead to Boarding Denial

Omisore was traveling from Lagos to Manchester via Paris when Kenya Airways staff informed her that she lacked the required French visa for her layover. Despite being offered an alternative route to London, she rejected the option and demanded compensation.

Kenya Airways stated that passengers are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary travel documents, and the airline does not cover accommodation costs for those denied boarding due to visa issues.

Escalation at the Check-In Counter

Frustration turned into aggression when Omisore allegedly removed and threw three used sanitary pads at check-in staff, with one landing on the floor. A viral video captures her shouting at staff, demanding a sanitary towel, and refusing to surrender her phone.

In the footage, she yells:
“You will provide me a sanitary towel. You cannot take my phone.”

A check-in agent, equally agitated, responded:
“Call the president of Nigeria. You will not fly on Kenya Airways again.”

Kenya Airways Condemns the Incident

Kenya Airways later issued a statement denouncing Omisore’s behavior:

“Our employees deserve to work in a safe and dignified environment. We strongly condemn such inappropriate actions and will not tolerate abuse from passengers.”

Immediate Deportation to Nigeria

Following discussions between the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and Kenyan officials, authorities agreed to deport Omisore back to Nigeria the same day.

Spokesperson Michael Achimugu confirmed:

“The passenger will be flown back to Nigeria tonight. This is agreeable on all sides.”

This incident highlights the importance of adhering to visa regulations and maintaining respectful conduct in travel-related disputes.
