The protests against the Vizag steel plant privatisation have been intensified since all parties of Andhra Pradesh issued statements against it. A huge protest was organised in Visakhapatnam under the leadership of YSRCP parliamentary party chief Vijay Sai Reddy, minister Avanthi Srinivas, Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana. CITU, AITUC, STEEL INTUC leaders also participated in the protest against privatization of Vizag steel plant. Vijay Sai Reddy said while addressing the gathering, “Our focus is on reviving the steel plant in the interest of our people, under Hon. CM Shri Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy Garu’s leadership. We fully support our leadership’s focus on reviving VSP to protect the interest and livelihood of our people.” The Government of Andhra Pradesh if needed will buy the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. This was the tweet by leader of the YSRCP Parliamentary Party Vijaya Sai Reddy. In his tweet, Reddy said, “Everyone welcomes Jagan’s constructive suggestions on the privatisation of Vizag Steel. He wrote to the Prime Minister that Vizag Steel would come into profits if the mines were allocated. The state has shown a rare courage to go ahead and buy the Vizag steel plant itself if necessary.” On the other hand, Leaders of both the YSRC and the TDP called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and appealed to her to stop the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, speaking to the media in Delhi after submitting a representation.
