EUFF set to return with its on-ground edition

The European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is back with its on-ground edition after two years of the pandemic. The 27th edition of the festival will be hosted in New Delhi from 4 – 13 November, 2022. The festival will screen 27 movies from 27 EU member states in 23 languages. Organized by the Delegation of the European Union to India, Embassies of EU Member States and regional partners, the EUFF is an annual event that endeavors to celebrate the diversity as well as the creativity of European cinema, heritage, and culture. This year the festival also marks the celebration of 60 years of diplomatic relationship between India and European Union. The festival is a step towards creating a larger cultural exchange between India and EU.
The European Union Film Festival is an excellent platform to discover European cinema as it brings some of the best stories and creators from Europe face to face with the Indian audiences. The European Union Film Festival will be hosted in New Delhi across three venues – India Habitat Centre, Instituto Cervantes and India International Center. The 2022 edition of EUFF brings to India an eclectic mix of cinema, from human drama to fantasy, all rooted in solid storytelling backed by riveting performances and extraordinary visuals. Virtual film festival will follow the on-ground film festival and will run from 15th November to 15th December ’22, thereby promising 40 days of high quality, award winning cinema that’s specifically curated to delight the Indian audiences.
The festival will feature movies from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. These include some of the most talked about movies that have been awarded / participated in prestigious European film festivals.
The European Union Film Festival opens with the screening of ‘Easy Living,’ an Italian coming-of-age comedy, directed by the duo of Orso Miyakawa and Peter Miyakawa.
In this story, different characters with different backgrounds, ages and personal issues find a common goal, not for charity but for friendship. Will an illegal immigrant be able to cross the Italian border to reconnect with his pregnant wife in Paris? The closing film of the on-ground version of the festival will be ‘Sonata’ from Poland.
Some of the other movies to watch out for are the Dutch film ‘Do Not Hesitate,’ the Estonian film ‘Rain,’ the Spanish film ‘The Volunteer,’ the Bulgarian film ‘The Naked Truth About Zhiguli Band,’ the French film ‘Les Perfumes,’ the Greek film ‘Tailor,’ the Czech film ‘Even Mice Belong in Heaven,’ and the Austrian film ‘Fox in a Hole,’ among others.
All the films at the festival will have English subtitles and the entry will be on a first come, first serve basis. Since some of the movies are 18+, the visitors are advised to check the ratings before planning a visit.
