Ranatunga, who led Sri Lanka to victory in the 1996 World Cup, was seen in a photo with former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev. The internet was abuzz with reactions, with many finding it hard to believe the legendary cricketer’s new look.

Ranatunga’s Cricket and Political Career
Arjuna Ranatunga was a star performer for Sri Lanka during the 1996 World Cup. Under his captaincy, Sri Lanka won the World Cup for the first and only time in their history. After retiring from cricket, Ranatunga entered politics and served as a Member of Parliament in Sri Lanka.

Upcoming India-Sri Lanka Cricket Series
The schedule for India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka has been revised. The series, initially set to start on July 26, will now begin on July 27. India will play three T20 Internationals and three ODIs. The T20 matches will be held at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, while the ODIs will take place at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

This will be India’s first white-ball bilateral series in Sri Lanka since 2021. India, yet to announce their squad, is expected to rest senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Gautam Gambhir will be India’s new head coach, while Sanath Jayasuriya will serve as Sri Lanka’s interim head coach.
