The anti-narcotics cell of district police on Monday claimed to have arrested a drug trafficker with the contraband of opium. Identified as Guddu, a native of Bareilly was apprehended by the police party led by Inspector Ajit Singh from Pritam colony of Pinjore, near here, the police said.
Accused Guddu was arrested on Monday and is currently lodged in police custody, the police spokesman said adding that the court has given three-day police remand for him. Police said that so far team has recovered 300 grams of contraband and he is being questioned for the complete supply chain and source of procurement.
We are focussing our investigations about his track and presence in this area in the past. So far it has come to fore that his major clients include the migrants hailing from near his native village. He had just started developing his networking. Meanwhile, we are also examining his mobile phones and other means of communication used by him,’’ the spokesman said.
‘At the same time, we have shared the information of his arrest with Bareilly police as well and we are hopeful of getting more inputs from them’, the cops added further.
Spokesperson attributed the catch as a result of campaign conducted under the directions of Police Commissioner Shibas Kaviraj in the district against drug smugglers. The operation was led Deputy Commissioner Police (Security Law and Order) Virender Sangwan and Inspector Narcotics Ajit Singh.
