Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the reactor explosion at a pharmaceutical company in Atchutapuram, Anakapalli district, which occurred on Wednesday. The Chief Minister plans to visit Achyutapuram tomorrow to meet with the families affected by the tragedy and to survey the site of the accident, as reported by officials.

The blast resulted in three deaths and seventeen injuries. According to Vasamsetti Subhash, the Andhra Pradesh Labour, Factories, Boilers & Insurance Medical Services Minister, “a reactor explosion took place at a private company in Achyutapuram in Anakapalli district. Three people were killed and 17 injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to two private hospitals.”

Subhash further mentioned that “rescue teams are currently unable to enter the premises due to dense smoke and rescue operations are underway. It is not clear how many people may still be trapped inside the company. Rescue teams are working to reach there as soon as possible and further updates will be provided soon.”

Governor Abdul Nazeer of Andhra Pradesh conveyed his condolences and expressed his sadness over the incident. “Governor of Andhra Pradesh S Abdul Nazeer has expressed anguish and profound grief over the loss of life of several workers and injuries to others in the explosion in a reactor in a chemical factory in the Atchutapuram Special Economic Zone in Rambilli of Anakapalle district on Wednesday. Governor Abdul Nazeer wished for quick recovery of the injured workers undergoing treatment in the nearby hospital and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members,” read a press release from the Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan.
