HYDERABAD:TDP General Secretary and former minister Nara Lokesh launched a scathing attack on the massive house sites distribution and housing programmes brought by the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government in the state. Mr. Lokesh alleged that what looked like a simple one cent land distribution for each poor family had actually turned out to be a goldmine for the Chief Minister, his ministers and his party MLAs. In the name of free house sites, the YCP leaders at all levels opened the floodgates of corruption.

In a statement here, Mr. Nara Lokesh expressed concern that the public money was looted in a wide variety of ways. The YCP regime perpetrated a 3-in1 scam in which the ruling party MLAs indulged in fraud in first acquisition of lands for free house sites, then in levelling of those lands and then in extorting money from the poor families during distribution. This massive 3-in-1 fraud involved open looting of over Rs. 6,500 crores of public funds.

Mr. Lokesh warned the Jagan regime that it would not be able to totally wipe out the TDP cycle brand that was permanently there because of the high quality houses constructed in the previous regime. The ruling party was wastefully painting its party blue colour on those houses now but the people knew very well whose hard work was behind the construction of those strong houses.

Stating that the house sites were now being given in uninhabitable places, Mr. Lokesh asked why the Government so thoughtlessly selected hillocks, burial grounds, tanks, low-lying areas, etc for distribution to the poor. This was enough to say that CM Jagan had no commitment or credibility in rendering genuine service to the people. There was no way the poor families could either construct their houses or live in such inhospitable locations.

Mr. Nara Lokesh asserted that there was evidence to prove corruption in the house sites scams. Over 41 YCP MLAs would be sure to go to jail under the ‘Jaganannna Jail Yatra’ scheme in future. The CM should explain how his regime was able to give lakhs of house sites when there were the court hurdles in this.
