The woman and her partner were arrested on Sunday for the brutal killing of her husband with a pair of scissors a week ago in Greater Noida, according to police officials.
Mahesh had relocated his family to Bironda in Greater Noida for job opportunities, where he worked as a sanitation worker. His wife Pooja invited Prahlad to Greater Noida under the guise of helping him find employment. Prahlad secured a job as a security guard at NFL Society and started visiting Pooja regularly, the official disclosed.
Pooja, married to Mahesh was reportedly indulged in an illicit affair with Prahlad. According to a police spokesperson, the two were engaged in a romantic affair even before the married couple moved to Bironda.
“Pooja and Prahlad, both from the same village, had been in an extramarital relationship even before Pooja moved with her husband Mahesh to Bironda village for work,” the spokesperson stated.
“On the night of July 1, Prahlad visited Pooja at her home while Mahesh was away. However, Mahesh returned unexpectedly and found his wife with Prahlad in a compromising situation,” the official recounted. “A violent altercation ensued, during which Pooja and Prahlad used a pair of scissors to fatally attack Mahesh. They then attempted to conceal the body by placing it on the roof of a toilet before fleeing the scene.”
The suspects, Pooja and Prahlad Kushwaha, were apprehended near the ATS roundabout in Greater Noida, with the murder weapon recovered from their possession, a police spokesperson confirmed.
The accused have been charged with murder under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the case has been registered at the Beta 2 police station in Greater Noida, authorities confirmed.
