Amritpal Singh, the chief of ‘Waris Punjab De’, a pro-Khalistan outfit, has been released from Dibrugarh jail where he was held under the National Security Act (NSA) since April last year. He is expected to take oath as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Khadoor Sahib constituency in Delhi on July 5th, following his victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Amritpal secured the Khadoor Sahib seat with a significant margin of 1,97,120 votes, defeating Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira.
