Amitabh Bachchan looks dapper, relishes lemonade on ‘MayDay’ sets

Washington [US], February 13 (ANI): Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday shared a picture looking all dapper.
The 78-year-old actor took to Instagram and shared a photo holding a glass of lemonade in his hand. In the photo, the veteran actor can be seen looking dapper in a black jacket paired along with matching sunglasses.
He captioned the picture as “… neembu paani dhoop mein .. chashma jacket shoot mein ..!!”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Big B has been shooting with the cast and crew of ‘MayDay’ which is being directed by Ajay Devgn, who will also be portraying a pivotal role in the film. Apart from Big B and Ajay, the film will also feature Rakul Preet Singh.
Apart from the upcoming film, Big B, who was last seen in ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, has an impressive line-up of films in the pipeline including Rumi Jaffery-directed ‘Chehre’, Ayan Mukerji’s superhero movie ‘Brahmastra’, and Nagraj Manjule’s sports film ‘Jhund’. (ANI)

‘The Crown’ continues winning run, Gillian Anderson bags Golden Globe for portrayal of Margaret Thatcher

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): ‘Crown’ continued its winning run at this year’s Golden Globes as the show bagged its fourth award of the night with Gillian Anderson taking home the award in the category of ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Supporting Role’.
Anderson portrayed British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of ‘The Crown’ and she received wide acclaim for her portrayal.
Meanwhile, during Golden Globes 2021, American actor Jodie Foster took home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture. She won the award for her role in ‘The Mauritanian’.
Netflix’s insanely popular period drama ‘The Crown’ also won in the best drama television series category at the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
The period drama series previously won in 2017 for its first season. It lost for its second and third installments to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Succession’, respectively.
British actor Josh O’Connor also won the Golden Globe award for his portrayal of ‘Prince Charles’ in the Netflix drama ‘The Crown’. This is the first Golden Globe award win for Connor and this was the first time he had received a nomination as well.
The fourth season of ‘The Crown’ covered the time span from 1979 to the early 1990s and it included Margaret Thatcher’s tenure as prime minister and Lady Diana Spencer’s marriage to Prince Charles.

Golden Globes 2021: Jane Fonda receives Cecil B. DeMille Award

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): At this year’s Golden Globes, American actor Jane Fonda received the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award.
According to Variety, the honour recognises Fonda’s illustrious career in film, one that saw her top the box office and cement her name in movie history by starring in such classics as ‘Klute,’ ‘The China Syndrome’ and ‘9 to 5.’
More recently, Fonda has appeared in the Netflix series ‘Grace and Frankie’ as well as ‘Book Club’ and ‘Youth.’ The 83-year-old star’s other films include ‘The Electric Horseman,’ ‘Barefoot in the Park,’ ‘Coming Home, and ‘Julia.’
One of her biggest commercial successes was the 1982 release of her first exercise video, ‘Jane Fonda’s Workout,’ which went on to sell 17 million copies and spawned several follow-ups.
Fonda has been equally well known for her political stances – protesting the Vietnam War, campaigning for civil rights, and advocating for feminist causes. Currently, Fonda is leading Fire Drill Fridays as part of a national movement to raise awareness about the climate crisis.
The Cecil B. DeMille Award is the highest honour given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the organisation behind the Globes. Past recipients include Robert De Niro, Sophia Loren, Sean Connery, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese, Jodie Foster, Steven Spielberg, and Meryl Streep. Last year’s honouree was Tom Hanks.
A 15-time nominee, Fonda has been awarded Golden Globes for seven-times.

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): Netflix’s insanely popular period drama ‘The Crown’ won in the best drama television series category at the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
‘The Crown’ was nominated alongside HBO Max’s ‘Lovecraft Country’, Disney Plus’ ‘The Mandalorian’ and Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ and ‘Ratched’.
The period drama series previously won in 2017 for its first season. It lost for its second and third installments to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Succession’, respectively.
Teleconferencing their award acceptance was showrunner Peter Morgan, who thanked the cast and crew as the camera cut away to leads and co-stars Gillian Anderson and Olivia Coleman’s listening on, reported Variety.

Golden Globes 2021: ‘Minari’ wins Best Motion Picture- Foreign Language

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): American drama film ‘Minari’ bagged the Golden Globe 2021 award in the Best Motion Picture- Foreign Language category.
‘Minari’ has been directed by Lee Isaac Chung and it stars Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Youn Yuh-Jung, and Will Patton.
The film is a semi-autobiographical take on Chung’s upbringing and the plot follows a family of South Korean immigrants who try to make it in rural America during the 1980s.
‘Minari’ had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2020, winning both the US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the US Dramatic Audience Award.
It also received 3 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and 10 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards nominations. The film also received six Independent Spirit Award nominations.

Rosamund Pike takes home Golden Globe for ‘I Care a Lot’

Washington [US], March 1 (ANI): Actor Rosamund Pike took home a Golden Globe for ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for the Netflix film ‘I Care a Lot’.
The Netflix film stars Peter Dinklage and Rosamund in a dark comedy about a con woman (Pike) who tricks elderly people into making her their legal guardian. Once she obtains that status, she steals their possessions. This plan works until she does this to someone with mob connections.
“Ladies, I salute you,” Pike said accepting her Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical.
She added, “Wow. I bet it looks like I care a lot. I do!” She also said that having to swim up from a sunken car was still “better than being in a room with Rudy Giuliani,” a nod to fellow nominee Maria Bakalova’s ‘Borat’ sequel scene.
Pike was nominated along with other stars including Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Movie film), Kate Hudson (Music), Michelle Pfeiffer (French Exit) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Emma).
