Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing the party of consistently disrespecting the principal architect of India’s Constitution, BR Ambedkar, throughout his lifetime. Speaking at a public gathering in Shivpuri, an Assembly constituency represented by BJP’s Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Shah condemned the Congress for its historical treatment of Ambedkar.
Shah highlighted the BJP’s efforts towards recognizing and honoring Ambedkar’s legacy, citing initiatives such as building the Shiksha Bhoomi in Mau and a memorial in London. He also mentioned the elevation of Ramnath Kovind, a Dalit, to the position of President, illustrating BJP’s commitment to social and political reforms.
Addressing the transformation of Madhya Pradesh from what was referred to as a ‘Bimaru Rajya’ to a ‘Bemisal Rajya’ under the BJP-led ‘double-engine’ government, Shah urged the public to bring the BJP back to power in the upcoming state elections. He emphasized the BJP’s track record of developmental work for various sections of society, contrasting it with the alleged darkness and neglect during Congress’ rule.
In a direct challenge to Kamal Nath’s Congress government, Shah underscored the substantial increase in the state’s budget during the 18-year BJP rule, suggesting the BJP’s dedication to state progress.
Madhya Pradesh is poised for elections in a single phase on November 17, with vote counting scheduled for December 3 for the 230-member Assembly. Shah’s impassioned address aimed to galvanize public support for the BJP in the forthcoming state polls.
