Union Home Minister Amit Shah rebutted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s suggestion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s retirement, asserting that PM Modi will continue to lead the nation even after 2029.

Addressing Kejriwal’s comments, Shah stated to ANI, “PM Modi will remain till 2029, and Arvind Kejriwal, I have bad news for you…even after 2029 PM Modi will lead us.”

Shah also commented on Kejriwal’s recent interim bail, expressing skepticism over the judgment’s impartiality. “A lot of people in this country believe that a special treatment has been given,” Shah remarked.

Responding to queries about Kejriwal’s participation in the INDIA alliance campaign following his release, Shah remarked, “Right now he (Arvind Kejriwal) is stuck in another issue (Swati Maliwal assault), let him get free from that then let’s see what happens.”

On May 11, Kejriwal had remarked that according to Modi’s own rules, the Prime Minister would retire upon reaching 75 years of age in September 2025. Kejriwal had further speculated on the succession plan, suggesting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as Modi’s potential successor.

However, UP CM dismissed Kejriwal’s assertion as a “desperate attempt” to attack using PM Modi’s age as an excuse.
