Union home minister Amit Shah and a senior leader of BJP Amit shah has filed nomination papers from Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar for coming Lok Sabha elections. While filing the nomination, he was accompanied by sitting CM of the western state Bhupendra Patel.

This decision marks Amit Shah’s attempt to secure re-election in a constituency which enjoys a rich political legacy with the likes of Atal Bihari Vajapyee and L.K. Advani. With the former having won from both Lucknow & Gandhinagar in the 1996 general election. But the former PM left the latter for Lucknow. Paving way for future leaders.

In 2019, however, Amit Shah managed to achieve a clear win in the BJP’s stronghold, defeating Congress candidate Dr CJ Chavda. where the vote share reached 69.67 percent.

Meanwhile from Congress, has put forward its party secretary Sonal Patel.

Gujarat will go to the polls in 7th May 2024, in the third phase of the election. Results will be declared on 7th June.
