In a somber announcement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed deep condolences over the demise of renowned legal scholar Professor Ved Prakash Nanda. Describing Prof. Nanda as a prominent figure within the Indian diaspora in the United States, Shah highlighted his significant contribution to fortifying the Indo-US relationship. The Home Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and admirers of Prof. Nanda, invoking “Om Shanti” for peace.

Professor Ved Prakash Nanda, an Indian American academic, was honored with the Padma Bhushan award on March 20, 2018, for his outstanding contributions to literature and education. An expert in International Law, Prof. Nanda served as the Founding Director and Director Emeritus of the International Legal Studies Program and Director of the Ved Nanda Center for International and Comparative Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
