Despite the tall claims of the Haryana government, law and order is not up to the expectations in the state which is a matter of serious concern. Regarding the same, the opposition continues to take on the BJP-JJP led government saying that the state continues to witness a spurt in crime for which requires taking some necessary steps. Reacting to this the ruling faction, defending itself in an Assembly Session held in November 2020, said that the government is planning to set up a foolproof CCTV system worth over Rs 200 crore in seven districts of Haryana. They have also begun the work. The information of budget and locations where CCTV had to be installed was also shared. Thus, the delay in installations clearly indicates that the government seems to be dragging its feet over the same.

No development has been reported ever since which is evident from the data placed in the Assembly in March 2021. In a response to the question asked by a legislator of the Congress, the ruling faction represented the same statistics without mentioning any new development in the above-said plan of setting up CCTV’s across the state.

Maintaining law and order along with a smooth traffic system in Faridabad and Gurugram which fall in National Capital Region (NCR) is a huge challenge. “To strengthen the law and order in the state, the police department has come up with a plan to install CCTV’s across the state. It’s a big project requiring a lot of sources, time, and budget,” said the DGP, Manoj Yadava and informed that the budget has been approved.

However, the plan of installing CCTV’s at a large scale in both districts is still pending and the work regarding the same is still slow and crawling. Besides, CCTV’s had to be installed in Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala located in National Highway 1 (GT Road Belt). It has only been installed in Ambala so far.
