Commenting on the raid by the Enforcement Directorate on Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s relative, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu in a one-on-one interaction with media personnel said that he never kept silent on the issue but was against the political gimmicks ahead of Assembly elections.
“I was never mum on the ED raid issue of CM Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew. However, I am against the political gimmicks for which national agencies are used. It is a case of 2018 in which ED had raided the relative of
the Chief Minister, it has been almost four years since that case was registered,” he said.
Sidhu added, “Kumbhakaran also used to wake up after six months. They turned out to be the father of Kumbhakaran and they kept sleeping for four years, and just before the election, they went to ED. The public has seen the working of all the central agencies in the past few days. That’s why even CBI was called the caged parrot of the Central government, Navjot Sidhu’s fight is against such a system. Sidhu never stopped questioning the sand mafia issue.”
Asked how the Punjab Model would be implemented amid serious allegations against the party candidates, Sidhu said: “Be it Akalis nor Aam Aadmi Party, no one is beyond criticism. But why has Congress been targeted the most always? There may be bad people in all parties but I am talking about solutions. There is a need to break a system that has been giving termites to Punjab for the past 25 years, a new system needs to be created. The day a sand corporation is formed in Punjab, not a single man will be able to steal sand.”
Commenting on the police action against SAD leader Bikram Majithia, Sidhu said: “ED was the first to act on Majithia and that officer was even transferred. It was not a fake case because Bhola was involved in a drug racket worth Rs 6,000 crore. Everything happened on the statement of Bhola. Apart from Bittu Aulakh, Satta, Pindi and Amarinder were involved and the extradition of these three has been sought through the central government, whose approval has not been received to date,” Sidhu said.
