Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) Chief Jayant Chaudhary will share the political stage  on 7 December at Dabthuva in Siwalkhas Assembly seat in Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh. SP members claimed that the alliance will bring a change in Uttar Pradesh, if voted to power.

“SP-RLD is definitely a strong alliance. We are focusing on unemployment, which is one of the major issues in the state. People are excited and positive that the alliance will bring some light in their lives if voted to power in the upcoming election,” Samajwadi Party spokesperson, Vandana Singh, told The Daily Guardian.

Sources claimed that SP’s seat-sharing pact with RLD is almost final and many senior SP leaders such as the state president Naresh Uttam Patel and election campaign coordinator Sanjay Lathar have reached Meerut to participate in the rally.

“Tomorrow’s rally will be a historic one as a large number of people will gather, they are excited and waiting to bring development in the state. The alliance will be voted to power. Our prime focus will be on health, education, enhancing the primary healthcare centres in the remote areas or villages and bring some relief to the farmers by providing them right prices for their crops,” national general secretary of RLD, Rajendra Sharma, told this paper.

On the other hand, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party are expecting that the party will be voted to power with more than 300 seats. “BJP is already strong enough and we work for the people. We are already capable of winning more than 300 seats in the state,” Sakaldeep Rajbhar, a Rajya Sabha member from BJP, in UP, told this newspaper.
