Indian filmmaker and superstar Ajay Devgn has been working quietly with the BMC to provide emergency medical facilities for Mumbaikars affected by COVID-19. It was reported that last year he donated ventilators to Dharavi, one of the areas that was badly hit at that point, helping the situation to a great extent.

This time around, Devgn has gone ahead and helped the BMC to set up an emergency medical unit at Mumbai›s Shivaji Park. By which BMC has converted Bharat Scouts & Guides Hall at Shivaji Park to a 20-bed COVID-19 facility with ventilators, oxygen support and para monitors.

“It will be an extension of Hinduja Hospital,” said COO, Joy Chakraborty confirming that they would provide food, linen, medicine and man power to this emergency unit.

Actor Sonu Sood, who is doing his bit to help people tide over shortage of hospital beds, oxygen supplies and life-saving medicines during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, called it ‘more satisfying’ than delivering a 100 crore film. He has been involved in numerous relief efforts since last year, from helping the needy with medical bills to airlifting stranded migrant workers and students.

On Wednesday, Sonu took to Twitter to share a clip of the non-stop notifications on his phone of people pleading for help. “We are trying our best to reach out to you. If there are delays or we miss out. Then pardon me..Apologies”, the actor tweeted.

Former actor Twinkle Khanna along with husband actor Akshay Kumar have donated 100 oxygen concentrators as India battles second wave of Covid-19. She said that she was in ‘bit of a hole’ due to family’s ill health. Akshay Kumar recently donated Rs. 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir Foundation.
