An Air India passenger has raised a complaint about discovering a cockroach in the omelette served during a flight from Delhi to New York. The airline has since responded, stating that they have addressed the issue with their catering service provider for further investigation.

“We are aware of a social media post by a passenger regarding a foreign object in the onboard meal offered to them on AI 101 operating from DEL to JFK on 17 September 2024,” an Air India spokesperson said, expressing concern about the incident.

In a post on X, the passenger reported finding a cockroach in the omelette served during the flight, noting, “My 2-year-old finished more than half of it with me when we found this. Suffered from food poisoning as a result.” She also shared a short video and pictures of the meal, tagging Air India, the DGCA, and Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu.

Air India’s spokesperson confirmed the airline is taking the customer’s experience seriously and has launched an investigation with the catering provider. “We will take necessary actions to prevent any recurrence of such instances in future,” the spokesperson added.

They further emphasized that Air India collaborates with well-established caterers who serve many leading airlines worldwide, following strict SOPs and checks to maintain meal quality for passengers.
