After the repatriation of Chandigarh SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal, Punjab has sent a panel of IPS officers for Chandigarh SSP. In this panel the names of 2012 batch IPS Sandeep Garg, 2012 batch IPS Akhil Chaudhary and 2013 batch IPS Bhagirath Singh Meena are supposedly included.

The decision about who will be handed over the command of Chandigarh SSP will be taken by the Punjab governor, Banwari Lal Purohit.

Notably, the Chandigarh administration had issued an order removing Punjab cadre 2009 batch IPS officer Kuldeep Singh Chahal from the post of Chandigarh SSP who was about to complete his tenure. However, the administration repatriated Chahal 10 months before his tenure completion. The entire incident had drawn many concerns over the administration as to why the move was taken. In response to the concerns raised, governor said that Chahal was removed for his misconduct.

Manisha Chwdhary will hold the charge of Chandigarh SSP until a permanent appointment for the post is done.

Earlier Kuldeep Singh hahal held the charge of ASI in Chandigarh Police before becoming IPS and his dedication and hard work made him capable enough that he was posted as SSP in the same Chandigarh Police.
