David Benioff, D.B. Weiss’ first Netflix film sets its cast of young rockers
Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): The ‘Game of Thrones’ series co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ first Netflix film ‘Metal Lords’ will star Jaeden Martell, Isis Hainsworth, and newcomer Adrian Greensmith.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Jaeden Martell of ‘Knives Out’ and the ‘It’ movies will star in the coming-of-age comedy alongside Isis Hainsworth and newcomer Adrian Greensmith, who is currently studying at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
Directed by Peter Sollett, ‘Metal Lords’ will be about two kids who want to start a heavy metal band “in a high school where exactly two kids care about heavy metal.”
The film’s script has been penned by Weiss who will produce it alongside Greg Shapiro, Benioff, Bernie Caulfield, and Robin Fisichella as executive producers.
‘Rage Against the Machine’ and ‘Audioslave’ rocker Tom Morello will serve as the executive music producer for the film, which is set for global release on Netflix later this year.
As per Entertainment Weekly, ‘Metal Lords’ is one of many projects coming out of this two-person brain trust. Benioff and Weiss are also working on ‘The Overstory’ series executive produced by Hugh Jackman, ‘The Three-Body Problem’ based on the sci-fi trilogy of the same name, and the half-hour Sandra Oh dramedy ‘The Chair’. Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): Actor-comedian Rebel Wilson is set to star in the Paramount Players high school comedy titled ‘Senior Year’.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming project will be helmed by Alex Hardcastle. Apart from featuring in the film, Wilson will also produce along with Todd Garner and Chris Bender.
Brandon Scott Jones is on board to write the script based on a spec from Andrew Knauer and Arthur Pielli. The forthcoming movie will focus on a cheerleader who wakes from a 20-year coma and returns to high school to earn the prom queen crown that she missed the first time around.
Jeremy Stein, Jake Wagner, and Jake Weiner will serve as executive producers for ‘Senior Year’.

Meanwhile, Hardcastle is best known for his work in the TV world having worked on several hit shows that include ‘Love, Simon’, ‘You’re the Worst’ and ‘Grace And Frankie’. (ANI)
Nick Jonas releases title track ‘Spaceman’ from upcoming solo album
Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): As the world struggles with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which brings a fresh supply of stress every day, we all need an escape, and what’s better than tuning into some fresh music? Singer Nick Jonas’ recently-released isolation-themed title track ‘Spaceman’ from his upcoming solo album of the same name could work as the perfect stress buster amid the health crisis.
The singer announced the forthcoming release of his new solo album titled ‘Spaceman’ on Thursday and dropped the lead single of the same name. The song expresses the singer’s melancholy of cosmic proportions, reflecting the detached perspective that comes from having spent a year spent in isolation amid great turmoil.
Nick took to Instagram to share the title track. He wrote, “The Spaceman era has begun. So excited to be starting this journey with all of you. I made this album while doing what most of us have been doing during this past year, sitting at home getting used to the new normal, and hoping for better days ahead. There are four central themes we will explore on this album… Distance. Indulgence. Euphoria. Commitment.”
He added, “Music has always connected the world and helped us to heal. I hope this music helps you on your journey through space and time… Thank you. Spaceman (the song) is officially out now and the album is available for pre-order before it lands on March 12th.”
The new track’s lyrics delve into the COVID-19 pandemic and the anxiety he felt during the 2020 election.
In the recently-released audio of the song, Nick can be heard singing, “They say it’s a phase, it’ll change if we vote / And I pray that it will, but I know that it won’t / I’m a spaceman. And the numbers are high but we keep going down / ‘Cause we ain’t supposed to live with nobody around / I’m a spaceman.”
The upcoming album will consist of 11 new songs including ‘This Is Heaven’, ‘Sexual’, and ‘Death Do Us Part’. During a recent conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Nick spoke about the album’s concept.
“I think the key for me was trying to find a way to give this idea a persona, give it a name. So ‘Spaceman’ came into my mind because I was thinking, ‘What’s the one thing that all of us have felt during this time?’ It’s just completely disconnected from the world,” the Jonas Brothers band member said.
He added, “We’ve gotten so accustomed to looking at a screen instead of human interaction, and I think the thing that keeps us all encouraged and hopeful is just the idea of knowing that there will be a tomorrow when this isn’t our reality, and I think the body of work as a whole tracks that.”
The singer further said, “But it felt like the right thing to start with ‘Spaceman’ because it is such a stark visual and creative idea to then start the conversation of songs like ‘This Is Heaven,’ which I’m really excited about. It touches on some of the things I did with ‘Jealous’ and tracks like that, but in a new way, and just trying to continue to get better and evolve every day, push myself.”
Nick, who writes several of his own songs, also told Lowe that most of his music is dedicated to his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Speaking about it, the singer said, “She loves it. Most of the songs are pretty much just love letters, which when I can’t articulate the way I feel with my words with no music, I go to the studio. And I’m grateful to have that because it makes her happy, and that’s most important.”
Nick will give the first live performance of ‘Spaceman’ when he pulls double duty as host and musical guest of American show ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend. He will also reclaim one of the spinning chairs on ‘The Voice’ when he returns as a coach for its 20th season, which is set to debut on March 1.
‘Spaceman’ marks the first solo project from any of the Jonas Brothers since the trio got back together in 2019. Apart from Nick, the Jonas Brothers trio includes Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas.
The brothers’ most recent release as a group was last year’s holiday single ‘I Need You Christmas’. Nick’s new album will drop on March 12, this year. (ANI)
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ will be Tom Holland’s final Spidey film under contract
Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): Hollywood star Tom Holland recently revealed that the now-officially titled Spidey threequel ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ will mark his final time suiting-up as the Webbed Wonder for the standalone films. But the actor is already setting his sights on a potential comeback and said that he would return “in a heartbeat” if asked.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the highly-anticipated release of Holland’s third solo film as the legendary superhero, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, will mark the end of the actor’s contractual obligations to lead standalone films built around the character.
Recently, during an interview with Collider, for his new Apple TV+ drama ‘Cherry’, Holland said, “I’ve always said to them if they want me back I’ll be there in a heartbeat, I’ve loved every minute of being a part of this amazing world. It’s changed my life for the better, I’m so lucky to be here. If they want me back I’ll be there, if they don’t I will walk off into the sunset a very, very happy person because it’s been an amazing journey.”
Before leading his first pair of solo Spidey flicks with the 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and its 2019 sequel ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, the first time that Holland appeared in the classic comic book role of Peter Parker was with Marvel’s 2016 blockbuster ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
Apart from these, he has also appeared in several Avengers titles for Marvel and Disney. Though, his solo spin-offs were distributed by Sony under an unprecedented deal between the two studio mammoths, sharing the character rights. A brief rift occurred between the partners that nearly threatened to end Holland’s run as the hero.
As per Entertainment Weekly, the forthcoming ‘No Way Home’ is set to pick up after Parker’s identity was exposed in ‘Far From Home’. With series mainstays Zendaya reprising her role as Michelle and Marisa Tomei returning as Aunt May, Benedict Cumberbatch is set to appear as Doctor Strange in the movie. Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina will also be stepping back into their roles from the past Spider-Man franchises as Electro and Doctor Octopus.
Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers have written the script for the forthcoming Marvel film.
Filmmaker Jon Watts has helmed the upcoming movie after directing ‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ (2017) and ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ (2019), which earned more than USD 1.1 billion globally, making it the highest-grossing ‘Spider-Man’ movie of all time. (ANI)
