Political assassinations are still happening in the state of West Bengal, and the law-and-order situation is deteriorating. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has raised such allegations in the assembly accusing the state government for killing two BJP workers in the last few days.

He immediately demanded a statement from Home Minister and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the issue. He reminded the assembly that law and order is no longer the responsibility of the Election Commission, so the state government needs to pay attention to all these issues.

In the assembly on Tuesday, Adhikari mentioned the killing of two BJP workers in a row. He also said that BJP Chandan Maiti and BJP activist Bhaskar Bera, who were killed in East Midnapore, of political murder. He mentioned not only murder but also torture or rape of women. The Leader of the Opposition mentioned the recent rape of an Indigenous woman in Bhatar. He also spoke about how the Scheduled Caste family was attacked in Khejuri.

The Opposition leader also demanded the release of Home Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement on the ongoing “political assassination” in the state. According to Shuvendu, “the government has not taken any action in this regard.” He claimed that now the Election Commission no longer has the responsibility of law and order in the state. “Now why Mamata Banerjee is not taking any action?” he raised that question.

It may be mentioned that BJP leader Chandan Maiti was killed in Bhagwanpur of East Midnapore. Police arrested a grassroots activist on suspicion of murder. Chandan, a BJP leader from Bhagwanpur, was killed near his home on the night of Vaifonta. The BJP alleges that he was beaten and killed with a sharp weapon. The party alleges that a man named Tapas Dalpati was involved in the incident. Police arrested Tapas three days after the murder. The BJP thinks that Tapas is the mastermind behind the murder.

On the other hand, a few days ago, another BJP activist Bhaskar Bera was beaten to death in a virtually populated area of Barabaria in Bhagwanpur No. 2 block. The residents of the area were terrified by the incident. Three people were arrested in connection with the murder of Bhaskar.
