The two-day special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, to counter the Central Agricultural Laws, began on Monday paying homage to all farmers who have lost their lives during the ongoing protests against these laws.

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led the House in paying tributes to the deceased freedom fighters, political and other eminent personalities, as well as martyred soldiers. All members present observed a twominute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls during the obituary references.

After the obituary references the Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh moved a resolution for conveying the condolences of the House to their respective families and the resolution was passed. Along with this, some important papers and reports were also presented in the House, on day 1 of the session.

The government informed the House that the bill related to agricultural laws will come on Tuesday. On this, the opposition said that because this session had been called concerning agricultural laws, the related bill should also have been brought on the first day.

Meanwhile, after the adjournment of the session till Tuesday, the AAP MLAs sat on a dharna inside the House, demanding the copies of the bill to be brought to counter the agricultural laws, while the SAD MLAs protested in front of the Punjab Bhawan.

Both the parties also protested against the Agri laws in the morning, outside the Assembly. Earlier, speaking in the House, Leader of Opposition and AAP MLA Harpal Singh Cheema raised the issue of MLAs not getting the copies of the bill concerned, till Monday. Akali MLA Gurpratap Singh Wadala said that this bill should have been introduced on day 1. Replying to this, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that copies of the bill would reach all the MLAs in time.
