The Bharatiya Janata Party and the AAP senior leader, Durgesh Pathak, are engaged in a verbal spat over MCD matters. The senior leader of AAP, Durgesh Pathak, has slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for looting public funds and wrecking MCD and has agreed to debate certain MCD issues. He claimed that the BJP had embezzled public funds and bankrupted the MCD, while MCD mayors said that the AAP had fabricated false claims against the BJP.
“AAP doesn’t know the meaning of the term ‘loot’. The central government has been able to tackle the problems of pollution and the rising cases of dengue whereas AAP has done nothing in the name of Vikas (development),” East MCD Mayor, Shyam Sunder Aggarwal, BJP told The Daily Guardian.
While talking about the lack of sanitation on the roads of Delhi and issues of MCD, AAP leader, Shoaib Iqbal, told this paper, “Once the shops open up, the owners and the workers start to clean their shops and this, again, fills the road with dust and dirt. There should at least be two rounds of cleaning. Most of the time, the cleaners just come once in the morning, do their work, and then the roads get filled up with dust again. There has been no progress in the sanitation works of Delhi, and the system has collapsed under BJP.”
Also, accepting the challenge of the BJP mayor to debate over MCD issues, the senior leader of AAP and MCD in-charge, Durgesh Pathak, said, “We will debate over the issues of the MCD, about how for the last 15 years the BJP has been controlling and ruling the MCD and yet how they are unable to pay their employees. We will debate about how the BJP has brought shame to Delhi by filling the streets with garbage and gifted the people 3 huge mountains of trash. We’ll debate about how Delhi ranks the lowest in cleanliness indexes published by the BJP government itself. We’ll discuss how the BJP has looted every penny of public funds through rampant corruption.”
Supporting the view, AAP, MLA, Madan Lal, told this correspondent, “AAP leader, Durgesh Pathak, is an experienced leader and knows the best. He is absolutely right.”
However, refuting such claims of AAP, the South MCD Mayor, Mukesh Suryan, BJP, told this paper, “AAP has, so far, achieved nothing. The party is only trying to fool the people of Delhi, and most of the members associated with AAP are lying.”
