Despite repeated efforts by the government to stop the farmers’ protest at the Delhi borders against the three farm laws and a couple of meetings held here on Tuesday in Delhi regarding the same, people of every section of society continued to support the farmers. The support for the farmers manifested in actions like free distribution of eatables, goods and woollens to the agrarian community staying put on the roads and border areas near Delhi for the last many days.

Besides, a string of mechanics across the state came ahead to provide free service and repair to farmers’ tractors. They declared that if any of farmers sitting on agitation have problems in their tractors and vehicles, they may contact for free help on given mobile numbers. When contacted, a person named Sajalkumar Kandola said that all farmers would be provided all kinds of free repair for tractors. Another person reported in Jhajjar district the same way. Likewise, a girl from Meerut with his brother was distributing food and tea to the agitating farmers, and her action brought her laurels. Besides, a petrol pump owner in Kurukshetra continued to pour free fuel in vehicles of farmers heading for the Delhi march.

Thus, the farmers’ agitation represented a blend of unity among commoners and various sections of the society. Apart from this, a lot of auto-rickshaw drivers near the Delhi-Haryana border areas were reported to be charging no fare from farmers.

Rickshaw drivers and shopkeepers to youth and even economically poor people seem to be leaving no stone unturned to help farmers. People from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana continue to provide milk and food to farmers which reflects their support to the agrarian community.

While the government blames the Opposition for spreading rumours about the new farm laws, saying that they misled farmers, it does not seem to be working, as the efforts of ruling faction have proved futile to convince the farmers so far.

Besides, the khaps in Haryana have also come up with a decision that independent legislators would have to withdraw their support from the ruling government and in case they do not do the same, the khaps would not let them enter in their Assembly areas.

Apart from this, the ruling party leaders are facing the anger of farmers across the state. Farmers in Ambala on Tuesday protested against Ratan Lal Kataria, Union minister for state, and Aseem Goyal, a BJP MLA, who were inaugurating a project there.

BJP MP Brijender Singh has accepted that things worsened as the farmers were kept away from talks while framing the new agricultural laws.
