Cine actor Khushbu Sundar has called the Congress “mentally retarded” party when asked about the remarks made by the Congress state president K.S. Alagiri.
Khushbu arrived at the Chennai airport after joining BJP in Delhi. She was accorded a rousing welcome at the Chennai airport where hundreds of the BJP cadres gathered flouting social distancing norms to welcome her.
While responding to the remarks made by TNCC president Alagiri, calling her an actor and not a political leader, Khushbu replied stating, “I have been in Congress for 6 years and I have worked very hard for the party but I was not recognized for it. But, only after I exited the party, I can understand that I have exited a “mentally retarded party.”
Khushbu also added that she is amused to hear that the Congress state president didn’t know that she was an actor when she traveled all across the State during the Parliamentary elections. She accused Tamil Nadu Congress president Alagiri of being an egoist person and one who acts as a leader.
However, disability activist Deepak Nathan objected to Khushbu’s remarks and slammed her for denigrating psychosocial disabilities while criticising Congress and said, “Equating Congress to that of the underdeveloped brain is denigrating disability. Why do you compare? Are we not equals?”
