U.S. President Donald Trump revealed he hopes to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un again in 2025, raising fresh speculation over stalled diplomacy

Trump made the remarks during his meeting with South Korea’s new President, Lee Jae Myung, in their first Oval Office talks

The meeting began awkwardly, after Trump criticized raids in South Korea, calling it a “Purge or Revolution,” before dismissing it as a “misunderstanding”

Trump said he still enjoys a strong bond with Kim, claiming he knows him “better than anybody, almost, other than his sister”

He added, “Someday I’ll see him. I look forward to seeing him. He was very good with me”

Trump and Kim met three times during his first term, famously saying they “fell in love” — though talks failed to yield a nuclear deal

South Korea’s President Lee praised Trump, joking about a possible “Trump Tower in Pyongyang” and even golf in North Korea

Lee also warned that Pyongyang could soon produce 10–20 nuclear weapons a year and missiles capable of striking the U.S.

Trump pushed South Korea to pay more for U.S. troops and hinted at America seeking ownership of military base land in the South

Trump’s renewed push for diplomacy with Kim comes as North Korea grows closer to Russia, complicating hopes for peace
