Russia President Vladimir Putin will visit New Delhi by year-end, the Russian Embassy in India confirmed on Wednesday. Exact dates are yet to be finalised

The announcement comes after a phone call between PM Modi and Putin on Monday, where the two discussed Putin’s recent meeting with US President Donald Trump
PM Modi thanked Putin for sharing insights on his Alaska meeting with Trump. Modi reiterated India’s stand for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote: "India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and supports all efforts in this regard. "
The visit comes as India faces steep 50% tariffs imposed by President Trump, partly as punishment for India’s continued oil trade with Russia
Russian diplomat Roman Babushkin praised Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s India visit, calling it “very successful,” and hoped RIC dialogue resumes soon
Babushkin also hailed India’s Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan, calling it a successful battle test of Russian weapons like the S-400
He added that Russia remains India’s partner of choice, with both nations working on advanced defence projects, including joint development of jet engines
