90% Covid-19 patients have recovered, only 7% cases active now in Delhi: Kejriwal

Delhi reported 707 Covid-19 cases, while 1,070 patients got discharged from different hospitals and 20 people succumbed to death due to the deadly virus. The total positive cases in the national capital rises to 1,46,134 including 1,31,657 recovered cases and 4131 deaths. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “Over 90 percent of corona patients in Delhi have now recovered. Only 7 percent cases are active now. Slowly and steadily, the people of Delhi are defeating corona”.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said that active cases in the country have reduced and currently comprise only 28.66% of the total positive cases. “India has posted more than 9 lakh recoveries than the active cases (6,34,945). Case Fatality Rate is 2% as on date and is steadily declining,” it said. India’s coronavirus tally crossed 22 lakh cases with over 62,000 new patients recorded in the last 24 hours. More than 44 thousand deaths linked to the deadly virus have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, former President Pranab Mukherjee tested positive for Covid-19. “On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for Covid-19 today,” Mukherjee tweeted. “I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please selfisolate and get tested for Covid-19. While, Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa got discharged from hospital in Bengaluru after he recovered from Covid-19. The chief minister had tested positive for the virus on 2 August.

Looking at the tallies of individual states, Maharashtra which is India’s worst affected state has reported 9,181 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 293 deaths in last twenty-four hours. Over 6,700 patients have also been discharged after recovering from the virus. Recovery rate in the state now stands at 68.33 percent.

Tamil Nadu reported 5,914 new Covid-19 positive cases and 114 deaths in last 24 hours. Total number of cases now at 3,02,815 including 53,099 active cases, 2,44,675 discharges and 5,041 deaths.

Odisha registered its highest single-day spike in Covid-19 deaths as 14 patients succumbed to the disease, while 1,528 new infections pushed its caseload to 47,455. The fresh fatalities have taken the Covid-19 death toll in the state to 286.

Gujarat reported 1,056 new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall count to 72,120. Gujarat now has 14,170 active cases. With 20 more people succumbing to the infection, the toll mounted to 2,674 in the state. A total of 29,604 tests were conducted across the state in the last 24 hours.

Andhra Pradesh reported 7,665 new Covid-19 cases and 80 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases now at 235525 including 87,773 active cases, 1,45,636 recoveries and 2,116 deaths.

 Uttar Pradesh reported 51 more Covid-19 deaths, pushing the state’s death toll to 2,120. The total number of infections rose to 1,26,722 with 4,113 fresh cases reported in the state in the last 24 hours. Haryana reported six more deaths due to Covid-19 and 794 fresh cases pushed the state’s total caseload to 42,429. Haryana’s COVID-19 death toll rises to 489.
