Eight people died and several others were reported injured after consuming spurious liquor in the Malipanchghora area, West Bengal on Tuesday night.
According to the information received, it is not yet known whether the death was due to the consumption of alcohol. On reaching the spot, the police arrested the owner of the shop and with this, the shop has been sealed.
According to the police, 40 people fell ill, and they have been admitted to the hospital. It is said that their condition is extremely critical. However, eight of them died in the morning. After seeing this incident, there was a stir in the whole area.
The local people there informed that this incident happened because of consuming alcohol and blamed hooch for death. After the incident, the people there started attacking and vandalizing things. The police have taken the dead bodies in their possession and have sent them for post-mortem.
However, the area of Malipanchghora is an industrial area where there are many small factories. Many laborers work in all those factories and after working all day, they stop at the shop and return home after getting drunk.
