Fire and rescue services personnel freed eight tourists from Bengaluru. They were stranded when their vehicle got stuck in stagnant rainwater near the Tamil Nadu Tourism Boat House.

Upon noticing the partially submerged vehicle near the boat house, close to the bus stand, some locals alerted the fire department. Without any delay, personnel from the department hurried to the scene and liberated all eight individuals, who were stuck in the vehicle, as stated by Ooty Fire Station officer Premkumar. Subsequently, the eight tourists were accommodated in a secure location.

For three hours, relentless heavy rainfall submerged not only the Ooty Market and Boat House but also numerous low-lying regions. This persistent downpour had the additional effect of lowering the temperature significantly in this renowned hill station, creating a cooler and more refreshing atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Premkumar mentioned that the rescue operation required the use of a rope and assistance from members of the public to tug the vehicle out of the water. The Nilgiris district has been enduring heavy rainfall since the early hours of the morning, leading to challenging conditions for the rescue teams and tourists alike.
