75F is a fast-growing building intelligence solutions provider that leverages Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing to predict, monitor and proactively manage various elements in a building including its temperature, lighting, air quality and its energy management needs. The company’s intuitive, self-learning system optimizes comfort, increases energy efficiency and provides insights into how a commercial building uses its energy efficiently. 75F global was selected for Google’s climate accelerator program in 2021. 75F was also awarded with the 2021 BNEF Pioneers, a Bloomberg NEF award that recognizes innovations around the world with tangible potential to accelerate decarbonization and support the energy transition. Gaurav Burman, who is the VP and APAC President of 75F India, spoke to The Daily Guardian.

Q: Please give us an overview of the company.

A: 75F was founded in 2012 in Minneapolis, USA and launched its operations in India in August 2016. 75F is a growing building intelligence solutions provider that uses IoT and cloud computing to forecast, monitor and proactively manage various factors in the building such as temperature, lighting, air quality or energy management requirements. Our Intuitive Self-learning System optimizes comfort levels, boosts energy efficiency, and provides insights into how a commercial building utilises energy efficiently.

We provide a one-of-a-kind and exceptional solution to HVAC systems that help achieve perfect thermal balance all day long through continuous commissioning whenever necessary. Among other things, we provide Lighting Automation and Control, Outdoor Air Optimization, and Indoor Air Quality Management systems.

Q: What was the idea behind launching the HVAC system products and solutions?

A: The inspiration for developing these systems and solutions was the requirement for controlling and monitoring of HVAC systems for commercial buildings, which many firms overlook, despite their importance. Our award-winning Building management system (BMS) not only controls the temperature inside the building, but also improves the air quality. Our integrated solutions are designed to enhance workplace experience for tenants and employees by providing a productive work environment. This encourages employees to continue coming to work if their office is suitably chilled and/or heated. Our recent software solution Epidemic Mode™ is a sequence of operations designed to maintain healthy and safe indoor environments for our customers in the event of a global pandemic.

Q. How are you helping the environment with your energy efficient and sustainable products?

A: Energy efficiency is about using less energy to accomplish the same task while avoiding excessive energy cost and unnecessary pollution. The HVAC system is designed to help control the environmental conditions within a structure in order to create a comfortable environment by heating and cooling the space regardless of the time of year or the weather outside.

Many commercial buildings and industrial facilities use a substantial amount of energy. HVAC and lights account for about more than 50% of energy usage in commercial buildings. As a result, the potential energy savings of 30-50% from smart HVAC might equate to 25% of total energy use. Facility managers would be able to cut this energy usage with a smart building system. Globally, buildings account for 40% of yearly energy use and up to 30% of all energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. . 75F’s IoT powered solution saves up to 50% on energy, improves occupant experience, enhances productivity and cuts down installation time by 80%. In effect our customers enjoy an ROI of less than 3 years in addition to many other benefits. Our solution has the potential to provide up to 38 LEEDv4 credits while also assisting in the construction of a more sustainable planet and ecosystem for future generations.

Q: How is 75F different from its competitors?

A: Our wide range of Vertically integrated smart building products and solutions give us an edge to be unique and different from our competitors. Apart from the Epidemic Mode that we introduced last year, another application is Facilisight, a building intelligence system (BIS) that uses machine learning of real-time sensor and weather data to predictively and proactively manage Building’s indoor environment for optimal occupant experience and operational efficiencies. With Facilisight’s suite of web and mobile app customers may regulate temperature and lighting remotely and around the clock

Our extensive line of smart sensors provides building owners with the power of IoT-connected devices for maximum efficiency and comfort in critical areas. It continuously monitors and gives data and visibility throughout the building and equipment to optimize the environment for efficiency, comfort, productivity, and well-being.

Our product portfolio also includes products like Smart Node, which is designed to control nearly any equipment type and brand with unlimited applications and zero programming required; and Occupant app, which can control the lights and temperature inside the office through an app even if you are not physically present in that area. The Central Control Unit is a wireless building management system that provides in-depth, real time insight of the building. It works with single and multi-stage systems, heat pump systems, fan coil units, air handlers, variable flow hydronic systems and other systems.

All these products have been designed with cutting edge technologies that make the buildings smart and let the workers feel safe and secured at the same time.

Q: What new ventures in building management are you planning to dive into?

A: We intend to increase our impact in lighting and energy management systems, which, in addition to smart HVAC, are key parts of building management. We are also expanding our go-to-market channels. We plan to extend our reach to more cities in India over the next few years, as well as to open more offices in India, South Asia, and the APAC region.
