Breast milk is essential for providing an infant with the energy and nutrients they need. However, poor nutrition among breastfeeding mothers can impact their ability to breastfeed effectively.  To address this, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW), celebrated from August 1 to 7, aims to raise awareness and promote breastfeeding support.

During this year’s World Breastfeeding Week, we spotlight five nutrient-rich recipes designed to help boost lactation. These easy-to-make dishes offer essential nutrients and are perfect for supporting breastfeeding mothers:

  1. Vegetable Stir-Fry with Tofu or Paneer
This dish combines mixed vegetables with tofu or paneer for a protein-rich meal. Simply sauté garlic and ginger in olive oil, then add tofu/paneer and cook until golden. Mix in vegetables and soy sauce, and stir-fry until tender.
  2. Quinoa Salad
A refreshing and nutritious option, this salad features cooked quinoa mixed with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, cheese (optional), and olives. Dress with lemon juice and olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Lentil Soup
Prepare a comforting lentil soup with carrots, celery, onion, garlic, vegetable broth, cumin, and coriander. Sauté the vegetables, then add cooked lentils and broth, simmering until tender.
  4. Palak Paneer
This iron-rich dish blends spinach puree with paneer cubes, offering a boost of vitamins A and C. Sauté onions, garlic, and cumin seeds, then add tomatoes and spinach puree. Stir in paneer and simmer.
