Four sanitary workers, including two women from Tamil Nadu, lost their lives after being struck by the Kerala Express heading to Thiruvananthapuram. The tragic incident occurred near Shoranur Railway Station on Saturday evening, as reported by the Railway police.

The New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram train hit the workers at approximately 3:05 PM while they were clearing garbage from the railway tracks close to the Shoranur bridge, just a few kilometers from the station.

The workers, who were contracted by the Railways for sanitation tasks, were thrown off the track due to the force of the collision. Three bodies have been recovered from the scene, while efforts continue to locate the fourth worker, who is believed to have fallen into the Bharathapuzha River, according to police sources.

A team from the Railway Police has arrived at the site. An officer from the Shoranur Railway Police stated, “The workers may not have noticed the approaching train, which resulted in the accident, but further investigations are underway.”
