In a remarkable display of devotion, approximately 30 lakh people congregated in Ayodhya to participate in the Chaudah Kosi Parikrama, a sacred Hindu ritual involving circumambulation around a revered object. The parikrama, observed on Kartik Akshaya Navami, commenced at 2:09 a.m. on November 20 and concluded on Tuesday night around 11:38 p.m.

Devotees fervently continued their prayers on the designated parikrama path even after the official conclusion. Security measures were heightened with the deployment of security personnel, paramilitary forces, and anti-terrorist squads to ensure the safety of the massive gathering in Ayodhya.

To deal with the influx of devotees from various cities and states, the Uttar Pradesh traffic police implemented diversion routes and designated specific parking areas in order to avoid overcrowding. The 240-kilometer 84-Kosi Parikrama Marg, also known as NH 227B, runs through the districts of Ayodhya, Barabanki, Gonda, Basti, and Ambedkarnagar.

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved this parikrama marg to facilitate pilgrimage and connect areas such as Bahraich, Raibareli, and Sultanpur. This initiative is in line with the larger goal of making Ayodhya a popular pilgrimage destination.

In anticipation of the large influx, the state government has implemented comprehensive safety measures, including healthcare services. The Health Department has reserved beds in key hospitals, ensuring access to health services for devotees participating in the Kartik Mela. The pilgrimage will culminate with the Kartik Purnima Snan, scheduled from 3:11 p.m. on November 26 to 2:36 p.m. on November 27.
