Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], February 19 (ANI): Three terrorists have been arrested in connection with the attack on Krishna Dhaba located in Srinagar, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Friday.
The arrest was made within 48 hours of the attack, which police said was aimed at terrorising non-locals living in the Valley and disrupting tourist activity.
The terrorists belong to ‘Muslim Jaanbaz Force’, an offshoot of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.
The arrested terrorists have been identified as Suhail Ahmad Mir, resident of Dangerpora Nowgam, Owais Manzoor Sofi, resident of Dangarpora and Vilayat Aziz Mir, a resident of Hanipora Wampora Pulwama.
The police said that the arrest of the trio and the recovery of weapon of crime (pistol) and grenade, along with other incriminating material including the bike used by them, within hours of attack is a big success for the Jammu and Kashmir police.
According to the Police, they attacked ‘Krishna Dhaba’ in Srinagar’s Durganag area on Wednesday night when 24 foreign diplomats were visiting the union territory.
“They have confessed to the crime and FIR has been registered at Ram Munsi Bagh police station, Srinagar under relevant sections of law and further investigation is on,” the J&K Police said.
“In its cowardly attempt to disrupt the ongoing peaceful atmosphere in the valley, LeT chose a soft target, a famous food outlet Krishna Dhaba and attacked its inmates to terrorise the non locals living in the valley and to disrupt the tourist activity which has seen an upsurge from past two months as the food outlet is very famous and popular among the tourists visiting the valley,” the police said.
During the investigation, it was learnt that Vilayat was in contact with one Gazi, an active terrorist and trained him locally a month before. “He performed the recce of Dalgate Durganag area along with other terrorist associates ten days prior to the attack,” it said.
On February 17, the trio on the bike of Suhail Ahmed Mir reached Krishna Dhaba and fired indiscriminately on the staff, injuring critically a person named Aakash Mehra. A case has already been registered in this regard under relevant sections of law and further investigation is on, police said. (ANI)

Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) [India], March 2 (ANI): Calling former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s actions at the Renigunta airport on Monday as theatrics, Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and added that it was a mere PR stunt to gain relevance post the dismal performance of TDP in the recently concluded panchayat elections.
“He knew that permission was not given due to Covid-19 restrictions, the dharna caused inconvenience to the citizens and as the Model Code of Conduct is in place due to the municipal polls. Despite that, he decided to travel. This is only to run propaganda against the government using certain media outlets controlled by him. Why would he travel, knowing that the permission wasn’t given? This shows that it was merely a PR stunt,” Reddy said.
Earlier in the day, Superintendent of Police for Chittoor S. Senthil Kumar addressed the media and said, “The district police denied permission due to the following circumstances.”
“The party was planning to gather 5,000 supporters, this firstly violates all Covid regulations. Secondly, these many people gathering in the city would cause a lot of inconvenience to the citizens. Therefore, TDP was asked to look for another protest site outside the city which they refused to do. Thirdly, the Model Code of Conduct is in place due to the municipal elections and a protest of this nature violates the same. The police have no objection if the party obtains permission from the State Election Commission. Despite laying out the following reasons, the TDP chief and his party intentionally did what they did. Hence, the detention,” Kumar said.
Tirupati Urban SP Venkata Appalanaidu said that the TDP leaders asked for police permission for holding protest, after 11 pm on Sunday night.
“In that letter, it was not mentioned that whether they have taken permission of Election Commission or not. The place where TDP wanted to hold protest is a crucial area in Tirupati,” the police official said.
TDP leader and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu was on Monday detained by the police at the Renigunta airport while he was going to attend an election campaign in the Chittoor district. (ANI)

‘ANGANA MOREY’ HITTING NO. 2 ON BILLBOARD GLOBAL CHART A PLEASANT SURPRISE: SHREYA GHOSHAL

Published

on

Singer Shreya Ghoshal recently got candid with NewsX in an exclusive interview as a part of its special series NewsX India A-List, wherein she spoke about her latest song release Angana Morey, her musical journey and more. Angana Morey is garnering a phenomenal response in India and around the world.

Not only the song is being loved by the listeners but is also smashing records of singers like Selena Gomez and has made it to number 2 on Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart. Angana Morey is even more special to Shreya as it is in collaboration with her brother Soumyadeep Ghoshal.

Expressing her gratitude to all the love and appreciation coming her way for Angana Morey, Shreya said, “While making this song, we did not have any such expectations. It’s a pleasant surprise and a great feeling. The fans are rejoicing. Somewhere they always hoped that Shreya or as they call me Shreya Di will make it to the Billboard one day. It’s a sweet gesture, I am elated and hope it’s the start.”

Sharing insights from the making of Angana Morey, she expressed, “Angana Morey was born in the lockdown so it was an interesting experience. Soumyadeep is a fabulous musician. This was our second project together. Over the phone and on video calls, we only talk about music and the possibilities of doing so many different things. He pushed me into it and said that don’t worry about what the trends are or what are people doing off late, you should do whatever you want. That is how Angana Morey was born. This is a very different song from my kitty and that’s why I went Indie. When you are doing independent music, you have no pressure of following any rules. So I broke all of them and did a slightly classical-based number with very modern, electronic and transient, groovy elements in it.”

Shreya spoke about her first song and how that proved to be a game-changer for her, “The first song that I did would always be the most momentous experience and time of my life. Bairi Piya from Devdas changed my life. I was around 16-years-old. Being called for a song like that by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a film of that stature was unexpected. It was amazing and since then there has been no looking back. There have been many more such songs, milestones, concerts, world tours, and experiences that have added many more layers to my life and how my journey has moved from here to there but it’s too hard to count them now. I am blessed but I will always look back at my first song, my first film as the most sentimental, the most emotional and important milestone of my life.” On a concluding note, she crooned Ghar More Pardesiya from Kalank.
