In the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army on Wednesday stopped an extensive attempt to transport guns and drugs after gunfire was exchanged at the border fence along the Line of Control. Three individuals were detained.

They claimed that early morning shooting in the Gulpur sector’s advanced Karmara hamlet wounded an Army soldier as well as one of the detainees who were taken into custody. They alleged that when border patrol personnel confronted the individuals after noticing suspicious activities, a gunfight ensued.

In a major operation to stop the smuggling of drugs and weapons along the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army apprehended three terrorist associates on Wednesday after a gunfight at the border fence.

The army reported that during the early morning gunbattle close to Karmara village in the Gulpur region, one soldier and one of the detained suspects were injured.

They claimed that border patrol agents spotted suspicious activity and confronted the individuals, sparking a shootout.

Three people were detained along with a shipment of drugs and weapons, and an Army jawan was also hurt, according to the officials. The entire area was promptly closed off.

The authorities identified the three apprehended suspects as being from Karmara and named them as Mohd Farooq (26), Mohd Riaz (23), and Mohd Zubair (22).

The Army stated that the accused are thought to have acquired the weaponry and drug shipment from the other side of the border and were attempting to smuggle it into this side when the troops intercepted them.

An AK assault weapon, two handguns, six grenades, an IED hidden inside a pressure cooker, and 20 packages of suspected heroin were all taken from the arrested individuals.

When the final reports were received, the search effort was still in progress, according to the officials.
