In a decisive move against traffic violators, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Doda and Kishtwar conducted extensive checking resulting in the seizure of 26 vehicles and the issuance of 152 challans for traffic violations in the twin districts.
In District Doda, the police authorities seized 18 vehicles and issued challans to 102 vehicles for violating traffic laws on different routes. Simultaneously, in Kishtwar district, a proactive initiative named Operation Bachav was conducted by the police, led by SSP Kishtwar Sh. Khalil Poswal-JKPS. This operation, aimed at curbing overspeeding and overloaded vehicles, led to the challaning of 50 vehicles and the seizure of 08 vehicles.
SSP Khalil Poswal-JKPS, emphasizing the collective responsibility in maintaining a safe road environment, urges public cooperation. Operation Bachav reflects Kishtwar Police’s commitment to creating awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility among motorists, fostering a safer road environment for everyone.
In this special drive against traffic violators, Doda and Kishtwar Police, apart from registering FIRs against drivers, have seized and challaned numerous vehicles for carrying passengers beyond seating capacity and other traffic violations.
The general public is informed and appealed by the police to cooperate and inform if any driver, especially drivers of passenger vehicles, is noticed carrying overload or driving rashly and negligently. Stringent action will be taken by the police, leading to the suspension of vehicle documents and driving licenses, besides the registration of FIRs against erring drivers.
It is pertinent to mention that last week, a tragic incident occurred in Assar area of Doda where an overloaded bus, without valid documents, fell into a deep gorge, resulting in the loss of 39 lives. India News/Newsx Channel of ITV Network has exposed that the bus, involved in the accident, was operating between Jammu and Kishtwar without any valid documents.
