As many as 26 students have tested Covid-19 positive in St Joseph School, Agripada, Mumbai. Four students are below 12 years and they have been admitted to Nair Hospital. The 22 students above 12 years are admitted in Richardson Crudas Quarantine centre, Byculla. In Mumbai, more than 340 people tested positive for corona virus. The total number of positive cases in Mumbai are 7,42,004; 272 people were discharged from hospitals post-recovery. The total number of positive patients recovered and discharged are 7,20,750. 2,855 active patients in Mumbai presently. The recovery rate in Mumbai is 97 per cent.

The civic body BMC has found 17 cases at Veena Geet Sangeet Gangotri Yamunotri building in Kandivli West and declared the society as a containment zone. Five Delta Plus cases have also been detected in the suburb. Out of the 17 cases, ten patients have recovered and seven are still recovering, two of whom are in the hospital. Mumbai’s Mahavir Nagar in Kandivali West has become the hotspot of corona. In Veena Geet Sangeet Gangotri Yamunotri, 17 people have been found to be infected with corona. Along with the corona, five Delta Plus patients have also been found in the buildings in Kandivali. As a result, the society has been declared a containment zone.

Speaking to The Daily Guardian, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said: “I have had word with Kerala Health Minister, looking at increasing cases there, they have also increased testing. Festival was also there and that lead to increase in numbers. They are sure that they will bring this in control and we are taking all precautions here and keeping an eye on numbers. We are following all protocols as per the guidelines provided for the state and the city”. Tope further added, “The Delta plus variant cases are not too many, but we are concerned and we are stressing on districts increasing tests every month.” According to experts, the third Covid-19 wave is expected in Mumbai next month and children are most at risk from the third wave.
